L’histoire de deux designers
Jen et Omar ont bâti une entreprise d’illustration à six chiffres à partir d’un seul croquis et d’un grand rêve.
En 2008, Jen Adrion et Omar Noory ont obtenu leur diplôme d’école d’art et ont fait ce que font les étudiants : ils ont obtenu de bons emplois en travaillant pour d’autres personnes. Ils ont conçu de superbes œuvres d’art pour des entreprises clientes et ont été bien payés, mais ils voulaient quelque chose de différent.
Ils voulaient créer leur propre genre d’art, pas un art dirigé par quelqu’un d’autre.
Après un grand road trip, Jen et Omar ont dessiné une carte des endroits qu’ils avaient visités et de ceux qu’ils avaient envie de visiter. Ils ont décidé de vendre les tirages supplémentaires de la carte qu’ils avaient réalisés eux-mêmes, et une chose amusante s’est produite :
Le premier tirage s’est vendu en quelques heures seulement.
Ensuite, ils ont créé une autre carte… et celle-là aussi a été vendue. Ce n’était pas un hasard. Ils étaient sur la bonne voie… ils savaient quoi faire. Ils ont fabriqué davantage de cartes et vendu davantage de cartes.
Au fil du temps, l’activité s’est développée. Les entreprises clientes ont commencé à appeler pour demander des illustrations personnalisées. Les magasins ont demandé à stocker leurs cartes, augmentant ainsi encore leur audience.
Ils n’avaient plus besoin de leur bon travail en studio.
Fin 2013,
Jen & Omar ont servi plus de 15 000 clients et vendu plus de 25 000 tirages.
Ils avaient trouvé un moyen de fabriquer quelque chose qu’ils aimaient et que beaucoup d’autres voulaient acheter – et ils ont conçu une entreprise autour de cela.
